The Goals
GE Phantom was designed to give healthcare professionals a hands-on experience using multiple GE HealthCare ultrasound probes, fostering a deeper interaction with the product and the brand. The game challenges players to identify organs from images and quickly locate them on a phantom's body with a relevant probe.
How It Works
The game involves identifying organs and locating them on a phantom using the correct probe, all within a limited time. On a tablet screen, the player:
- First decides on the relevant probe to be used, with incorrect choices incurring penalty time.
- Then locates the organ on the phantom, with different points corresponding to specific probes. Errors add penalty time.
- The goal is to accurately match all organs to images using the right probes within the time limit.

The Big Idea
The game was developed by a team with many skills: software and hardware development, UX/UI and graphic design, and project management. Starting from an age-old concept for the Operation Game, we developed the idea further to make it relevant and engaging for ultrasound specialists.
How We Delivered
We had to strike a balance between tickling the fancy and educating the players, who may or may not have experience with ultrasound machines. Starting with a simple sketching of scenarios, we used client feedback to refine the game concept and enhance usability.
Captivating UX and UI for a Unique Experience
During health-tech events, tradeshows, conferences and seminars, the attendees have limited time between sessions and meetings. Our goal was to make the game interface seamless and user-friendly. In developing the GE Phantom, we set the following objectives:
- Foster positive brand connections for medical professionals.
- Offer a quick, enjoyable two-minute activity.
- Spark product curiosity without overwhelming users.
- Provide a realistic ultrasound experience and educational element.
